Children’s Arts Tax Credit

The following is information is from the Federal Budget 2016. The Children’s Arts and the Children’s Fitness Tax Credits are being eliminated as of 2017.

Eliminating the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit and the Children’s Arts Tax Credit

The Government’s measures for families with children, combined with the middle class tax cut, will provide these families with additional net after-tax benefits of approximately $14 billion during the 2015–16 to 2020–21 period.

The 2016 Budget proposes to reduce the children's arts credit maximum eligible amount to $250 from $500, and to eliminate the credit for the 2017 taxation year. The additional tax credit for a child with a disability will remain at $500 for the 2016 taxation year.
