Compositional techniques will be compared in musical fragments throughout their oeuvre, and deciphered from a didactic perspective, as it applies to piano pedagogy. A study of performance practice in the works of Franz Liszt and Frederic Chopin will explore the impact of schools\/cultural traditions and scores\/editions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Mikolaj Warszynski,&nbsp;<\/strong>(D.Mus)\nenjoys a versatile career as pianist, lecturer, and pedagogue, and has\nperformed in recitals across North America, Europe and Asia.&nbsp;He has taught\npiano in Quebec at the University of Montreal and at the C\u00e9gep de\nDrummondville, at the University of Daegu in South Korea and at the Brno\nconservatory in Seoul. Canadian pianist of Polish origin, Mikolaj Warszynski\nreleased a debut CD for the Parisian Anima Records in 2015, with music by\nHaydn, Liszt, Szymanowski, and Chopin. Invitations to many prominent music\nfestivals and societies have led to recent performances in China, Italy,\nFrance, Czech, South Korea, Poland, and across Canada. As part of the ZUMI\npiano duo, Mikolaj also perfoms regularly as a piano duo with his wife, Zuzana\nSimudova, and is a founding member of the Warszynski Trio, dedicated to the\npromotion of contemporary Canadian composers. As a soloist, Warszynski has\nperformed with the Kielce Philharmonic Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony\nOrchestra and the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. The artist has been invited on\nfaculty at the Flaine Opus74 Academy in the French Alps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr.\nWarszynski also has given masterclasses &amp; performed lecture-recitals at\nvarious Universities on three continents. As a recipient of a doctorate\nscholarship from the&nbsp;<em>FQRSC&nbsp;<\/em>in support of\nhis dissertation entitled \u201cExoticism and intercultural influences in the piano\ncycle Metopes (1915) by Karol Szymanowski\u201d, Dr. Warszynski has gone on to\nperform lecture-recitals on the subject at Universities in Canada and the USA\nfor the&nbsp;<em>College\nof Music Society.&nbsp;<\/em>As the new music liaison to the Wirth\nInstitute at the University of Alberta, Mikolaj is excited to network between\ninstitutions and among the community, and collaborate on producing artistic performances\ninspired by the heritage of the Central European nations and their cultural\nbonds world-wide. Warszynski has been heard on radio and television broadcasts\nacross Canada on CKUA, CBC, CJSR and OMNI TV, in Czech Republic (<em>Radio\nVltava<\/em>)<em>,&nbsp;<\/em>and in the USA (WPRB).
