Marjory Purdy began piano lessons at the age of four with her mother, Margaret Purdy. She later continued her studies with Helen Dahlstrom, Robin Wood, Winifred Scott Wood and William Goldenberg. Her education includes Performer’s and Teacher’s Diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Victoria Conservatory of Music; a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Victoria; and a Master of Music Degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Northern Illinois University. She also studied collaborative piano at the doctorate level with Martin Datz at the University of Michigan and participated in summer programs and masterclasses in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Currently, Marjory teaches in Coquitlam at her home studio and at Place des Arts. She loves working with all levels from the very young beginner to the advanced piano student. She also specializes in pedagogy for new and established teachers, and at Place des Arts, she mentors and supervises several student teachers. Marjory adjudicates music festivals throughout British Columbia, and she is an examiner for Conservatory Canada.
