Canada Music Week celebrates the importance of Canadian music; supports Canadian composers and performers; introduces young Canadians to contemporary Canadian music with an aim to foster appreciation and an understanding of these pieces; and encourages music educators to widen their knowledge of Canadian works. Since 1960, thousands of Canadians have experienced Canada Music Week festivities each year in their communities.
Students of CFMTA members are invited to participate in the many competitions associated with this truly Canadian Music Celebration. This annual experience founded by Helen Dahlstrom, takes place during the third week of November. Check your provincial RMTA for local celebrations.
